Clomid (clomiphene) is a selective estrogen receptor modulator, or SERM for short. It is used medically, mainly in the treatment of fertility disorders. In bodybuilding, it is not considered an anabolic steroid, but a substance used for hormonal regulation. 

Does Clomid have an anabolic effect? 

Clomid does not have a direct anabolic, i.e. muscle-building, effect. 

Mechanism of action 

Blocking estrogen receptors in the hypothalamus 

The body “senses” that estrogen levels are low. 

Increase in LH and FSH 

The pituitary gland then secretes more luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). 

Stimulation of your own testosterone production 

The testicles can produce more testosterone. Higher testosterone levels can indirectly have an anabolic effect, but Clomid itself does not build muscle. 

When do bodybuilders use Clomid? 

In bodybuilding, Clomid is typically mentioned: 

1. After a steroid cycle (PCT – post-cycle therapy) 

To reactivate suppressed natural testosterone production and stabilize hormonal balance. 

2. With low testosterone levels after discontinuing anabolic steroids 

To support hormonal recovery. 

It is not primarily used during a cycle to enhance performance. 

Combination with steroids – general information, not instructions 

Clomid is most often mentioned in connection with testosterone preparations, nandrolone, trenbolone, methandrostenolone (Dianabol), and other anabolic-androgenic steroids. Typically, this is a period after withdrawal, not a direct enhancement of the effect.
