Drostanolone, also known as Masteron, is a popular compound associated with building lean muscle mass. Original descriptions state that when combined with Sustanon, other testosterone preparations, or stanozolol tablets, it can produce significant strength and muscle gains. 

What is drostanolone propionate? 

Drostanolone propionate, often known as Masteron, is an injectable anabolic-androgenic steroid. It is a derivative of DHT, i.e. dihydrotestosterone, with a short-acting propionate ester. It was originally used medically, among other things, for some forms of breast cancer. Thanks to the short ester, the level of the active substance is created relatively quickly and also decreases more quickly than with longer esters. 

Reported anabolic effects 

In the bodybuilding scene, drostanolone is most often associated with the following effects: 

• mild anabolic effect, 

• greater muscle hardness and definition, 

• minimal or no aromatization to estrogen, 

• possible mild antiestrogenic effect, 

• low water retention. 

It is considered less anabolic than testosterone, but relatively androgenic because it is derived from DHT. 

Combinations (“stacks”) – general description 

Drostanolone is rarely used alone. Common, not recommended combinations are: 

• with testosterone as a base, 

• with other low aromatizing steroids during bulking phases, 

• in the preparation phase for the competition along with several injectable AAS. 

Such combinations are supposed to improve muscle definition, but they significantly increase the risk of: 

• cardiovascular problems, 

• deterioration of blood lipids (HDL down, LDL up), 

• strong suppression of the body’s own testosterone production, 
• androgenic side effects.
