Exemestane is an aromatase inhibitor. In medicine, it is used mainly in the treatment of hormone-dependent breast cancer. In bodybuilding, it is abused to control estrogen levels.
Does exemestane have an anabolic effect?
Exemestane does not have a direct anabolic, i.e. muscle-building, effect.
Mechanism of action
Irreversible aromatase inhibition
It blocks the conversion of testosterone to estrogen, thereby reducing estrogen levels in the body.
Indirect hormonal effect
Less estrogen can lead to relatively higher androgenic activity, which can indirectly enhance the effect of testosterone.
Exemestane itself does not build muscle. It only affects the hormonal environment.
When do bodybuilders use exemestane?
In bodybuilding, it is typically mentioned:
1. During a steroid cycle
To control estrogenic side effects such as gynecomastia, water retention, and increased blood pressure.
2. For aromatizing anabolic steroids
The goal is to achieve a “drier” look.
3. Partially after the cycle
Sometimes it is mentioned to control the increase in estrogen after stopping steroids.
Combination with steroids – general information, not instructions
Exemestane is often mentioned in connection with aromatizing anabolic steroids, for example:
- testosterone preparations,
- methandrostenolone (Dianabol),
- nandrolone,
- boldenone.
The goal is to reduce the side effects caused by estrogen. However, this is not a recommendation or guideline for combining these substances.
Risks and side effects
- too low estrogen levels, which can lead to loss of libido, joint pain, and mood swings,
- negative impact on blood lipids,
- higher cardiovascular risk,
- possible loss of bone density with prolonged use,
- hormonal imbalance.
Long-term, significantly reduced estrogen can be a health problem.
Summary
Aromasin (exemestane) is not an anabolic steroid. It lowers estrogen levels by inhibiting aromatase. It is used in bodybuilding to control the side effects of aromatizing steroids. Combining with anabolic steroids significantly increases health risks.
